5 Questions with Jesse Osborne

Customer Success Manager

1. What is your professional super power?

First and foremost, I’m a people manager. I’ve been managing people, whether it’s small teams in a remote setting, or large teams on-site, for the better part of a decade and it’s taught me a lot. Along with leading colleagues, I’ve also been leading clients in the onboarding of products all the way to the continued successful utilization of products for years, and that’s taught me even more. The key to leading in any form is to find people’s strengths, preferences, cadences, working style, and giving them the tools they need to be their best selves. Everything else falls into place after that. I plan on utilizing my gained experience with uplifting users and peers alike to generate positive, impactful forward movement in the space of workplace engagement, and I couldn’t be more excited.

2. What excites you most about joining the team?

I’m passionate about workplace engagement, simply put! The care, thought, and ideas our team has already invested in the growing focus on workplace engagement can only continue to flourish, and I knew I had to be part of it. Not to mention I might have my own idea or two about what makes engagement really work, and I can’t wait to help make those ideas a reality.

3. What does community mean to you?

Community means a network that uplifts and protects, not a space you’re required to share with others. When I think of my community, it’s full of people I can help to achieve their goals, improve their weaknesses and strengths, and rely on them to do the same for me. It’s not all business, though. A community needs to laugh together, have fun, and relate to each other. Most of all, they need to trust each other.

4. How do you currently “find your people” at work?

Finding people can be tough. One of my missions is to make it easier, less daunting, and most of all, not feel forced. No one likes corporate-speak, popcorn-style meet and greets. Meeting your co-workers should feel natural and inviting. One of the best ways to find your people is simply to get to know your team and coworkers as you work with them and make an effort to be curious about them. Even if a person doesn’t end up being one of “your people”, you’ll still form a tighter bond with them that inherently makes collaboration easier, and solutions for the user come faster. At the end of the day, who doesn’t like that?

5. What’s a dream for the future of work that you’d love to see come true?

I want to see more workplaces use a sense of belonging and community to truly empower their employees. I often see companies use unempathetic tactics and generally treat their employees as second class individuals in the workplace instead of uplifting, supporting, and creating environments where employees are made to feel that they matter. People who believe that they can make an impact make the biggest impact you can imagine. I want to see a workforce full of empowered employees who feel valued, heard and respected. People who trust their colleagues and leadership, and know that they are also trusted, put their best foot forward and have fun doing it. I truly believe that is the cornerstone to a successful company, and the most important part of that is employee engagement in all forms, from top to bottom.
